About Us

Our History

Hope Alive was established in 2020 by the late Pastor Ron Barnes, who was deeply committed to addressing substance abuse in our region. His passion for helping those affected by addiction led to his vision of a dedicated facility in Robeson County where individuals could receive the support and treatment they needed to heal. Pastor Barnes personally petitioned the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services for financial assistance to establish a rehab center, advocating fervently to political stakeholders about the severity of the opioid epidemic in our area. His efforts surpassed all expectations when Hope Alive was granted a substantial $11 million to further its mission.

Following the unexpected passing of Pastor Barnes in October 2022, the organization faced a significant loss. However, under the leadership of our current Board of Directors, including Presidents Taylor Pevia and Shon Pevia, we have remained steadfast in fulfilling Pastor Barnes’ vision for Hope Alive. The rehab facility in Parkton, NC, which is under construction, has been named the Ron Barnes Center for Recovery in honor of our late founder’s unwavering dedication.

Hope Alive remains committed to its partnership with reputable service providers, ensuring that those seeking care at our facility receive the highest quality and competent support. Our corporate office, located at Hope Farm in Pembroke, NC, also serves as a site for workforce development programs. As we continue to strive towards the realization of Pastor Barnes’ vision, Hope Alive remains dedicated to providing hope, healing, and support to individuals and families impacted by addiction in our community.
